Beyond the Ribbons |

It was a hot June day in Greensboro, North Carolina, as Peak Performance Horses made the trip to the Kountry Kids 4-H Club Horse Show. While we only brought three horses, the day was packed with learning opportunities and some of our most consistent rides to date.

Showmanship & Halter |

The show day kicked off with the Halter and Showmanship classes. We were excited to

welcome fellow equestrian, Annie Dubner, where she competed in her very first Halter and Showmanship classes. She decided to enter the night before the show and received a quick 15-minute crash course. Despite the short preparation, she navigated Blue Flaming Sal or “Quinn” with confidence and skill, earning 5th in Halter and an impressive 3rd in Showmanship.

Kathleen Hohweiler and Boons Handyman or “Pedro” also competed in the in-hand classes, placing 7th in a large and competitive Western Halter division. While they chose to sit out of Showmanship due to the extreme heat, they’re ready to return strong in upcoming shows.

English Division | Progress, not Perfection

So Long London took to the ring for the English portion of the show, facing off against a pen full of AQHA Hunt Seat competitors. As the only USEF Hunter in the group, she held her own beautifully, laying down consistent, focused trips that reflected her evolving strength. London earned two second-place ribbons and one third, and continued to prove herself as a polished and versatile competitor. With each outing, she becomes more confident—we are excited to see her continue progressing toward the Duke Children’s Show in November.

Western Division | Stay Determined.

After the English classes wrapped up, Kathleen and Pedro stepped into the ring once again for their Working Western classes. This division was the largest of the day, but the pair rose to the occasion. They improved on past mistakes, delivered clean and composed rides, and remained consistent across the board. Their hard work paid off with a 5th place finish in Ranch Riding W/T/L, along with honorable mentions in their remaining classes.. Despite the blazing heat, Kathleen and Pedro stayed coachable, adjusting after every round and consistently showing up better each time they entered the ring.

Reflections | Growth Beyond the Ribbons

Although the heat was intense and even without top placings in every class, the support, learning, and improvement were clear victories in themselves. For us, shows like these aren’t just about ribbons—they’re about showing up, improving with each round, and supporting one another through it all. The energy within the barn family was full of encouragement and shared excitement for each other's wins—big and small.

We head to Williamston this coming weekend, best of luck to our riders—we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next. If this show was any indication, it’s going to be a summer full of memories and milestones.
