It was a beautiful spring day in Johnston County, filled with high anticipation, visible excitement, and an inspiring display of sportsmanship. Our youth team officially kicked off their show season—and they did so in style, earning one Grand Champion title and multiple Reserve Champion honors.
So Long London Sets the Tone

The day began with So Long London competing in the 2’ Hunter division. She delivered impressive rounds, winning the Equitation Over Fences and turning in beautiful under saddle performances. While there were a few valuable learning moments as we continue refining her return to the hunter ring, she remains a standout. Her efforts earned her a well-deserved Reserve Champion title in the 2’ Hunters. Our sights are now set on campaigning her through the Duke Children’s Show in November, with the ultimate goal of matching her with the perfect Short Stirrup rider.
In-Hand Classes Build Confidence & Well Rounded Horsewomen
Next up were the Halter and Showmanship classes—non-riding events that play a crucial role in developing horsemanship, confidence, and communication between horse and rider. These classes evaluate turnout, presentation, and conformation.
Paige K. and So Long London took 2nd in both Halter and Showmanship, securing Reserve Champion Halter.
Abby O. and All The Ladies Love Me placed 4th in Halter, while Abby also earned 4th in Showmanship with Boons Handyman.
Kathleen H. and Boons Handyman made their team debut, placing 3rd in both Halter and Showmanship.
Congratulations to all on their In-Hand accomplishments!

Gratitude to Our Team and Families
A heartfelt congratulations to all of our riders! Your hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship were on full display. We also want to extend a special thank you to our incredible parents—your support is unmatched. A shoutout to Joni and Dave for preparing a delicious taco spread on the grill, with help from Kim and Matt. We were definitely well-fed and well-supported all day!
We’re taking a short break as we head out to judge and teach clinics, but we’ll be back in the show ring on June 14th. Until then—happy trails!
